In use and great solution

My TADO

This solution can be expensive and recouping your costs in a number of cases may not be achievable depending on how large your home with and the entire solution you may want to implement.

It is flawed in that the temprature the TADO radiator reports and temprature of the room are different.  If you have a large room, the radiator with the TADO on may report the room as 18 degrees.  However, the other side of the room (Depending on the size) may be a significantly different temprature.

To aid in this area, if you had a large room with example three radiators in, you may want to buy a (stand alone) TADO wireless thermostat, group the three radiators together and to the wireless thermostate and place the thermostate where you want the teprature to be 18 degress.  The grouoped radiators will then remain on until the temprature is at 18 degrees where the wireless thermostate is located (Next to you on the couch?)  This solution can be expensise, as wireless (Or wired) independant thermostats supplied by TADO are around £100.  This issue is often talked about in TADO forums with nobody seeming to take an interest at TADO, to produce a cheap small thermostate to achive the same goal discussed here.

The TADO does come with an off set option where you can set the thermostate to a different temprature to try to assit (Set temprature

For us, it is an ideal solution and over time we have come to understand some main cons, that we are happy to live with as the solution meets our needs, which is to have full control of our heating environment room by room, floor by floor.

We have a large house split over four floors.  Each of these floors has it’s own separate piping solution, managed by a separate water valve and our solution allows us total management over all our rooms.

TADO only supports two zones.  Other zones however, can be managed by having either a wired thermostat controlling a valve.

    • Zone 1 Hot Water Tank (We switched this on in the early morning when the radiators / heating is off for heating efficiency)
    • Zone 2 (Floor one) – This is controlled by the main TADO Bridge and Wired Device (To the boiler)  Our Wireless Thermostat is located in our living room and we have four radiators linked to the one wireless thermostat to ensure the room is heated to the correct temperature.
    • Zone 3 (Floor two) – This has a wired TADO Thermostat that switched the value on and off upon request.  This sits in our bedroom.
    • Zone 4 (Floor three) – This has a wired TADO Thermostat that switches the water value on and off upon request.  This sits on the other floor.
      Loft floor (Not required)

    Reset

I have a gravity fed system. If I had problems I would reset as follows:

    • Remove / delete (hard wired boiler) receiver from my phone app.
    • Remove / delete the wireless temperature sensor from mobile phone app.
    • Bridge: – Reset Bridge configuration on the back. Press reset pin for 10 seconds and until the lights start to flash.
    • Reset wireless temperature sensor
    • Reset (Main Boiler)
    • Cabled Boiler Receiver
The Main Boiler receiver default setup is Green (S-Plan & Y Plan). This works for a Gravity Fed system as (Blue Light if configuring this area) and has Hot Water ability. If setting to Yellow, the Hot Water function is not available.
To check if it’s Green, once powered on, select the Heating and Hot Water button for around 5 seconds. See attached image for further information.
